Mataram City Government Asked To Prepare 25.000 Residential Rooms For MotoGP Guests

MATARAM - The Mataram City Government, West Nusa Tenggara Province, was asked to prepare 25.000 rooms for residents' houses that can be used to meet the quota of 70.000 MotoGP guests. The MotoGP event will take place at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency on March 20, 2022.

"We will coordinate the number of rooms requested with the village head and sub-district regarding the readiness of residents' homes that can be used as alternative lodging for MotoGP guests," said Head of the Mataram City Tourism Office H Nizar Denny Cahyadi as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 12.

The statement was conveyed after attending the inaugural coordination meeting for MotoGP preparation with a team from the Hospitality of Indonesia Network (HIN) at the Mataram Mayor's Office.

He said that the need for a room or bed that was conveyed by the HIN team would be coordinated internally again with other relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPD), including the village and sub-district heads.

By looking at the housing conditions of the residents in Mataram City, the readiness for 25.000 beds is not possible. But his party will try to prepare the maximum number of houses that are ready to become alternative lodging. "Including the vacant boarding houses, we will data and this can be an opportunity for the community," he said.

To collect this data, he continued, the village head and sub-district will conduct socialization to their citizens. Residents who own houses or boarding houses that are considered worthy can report, register directly with local officials, or register through an application that has been prepared.

"The basic criteria for a house that can be an alternative lodging for MotoGP guests include, there is a bed and bathroom and a place to eat around it," he said.

Indeed, from HIN, there are also attractions around the inn so that it can be an attraction for guests. "But it is not a mandatory requirement. The important thing is that there are representative beds and rooms," he said.

Touching on the issue of residents' housing rates, Denny said that it is hoped that the prices will be below hotel rates. For example, a jasmine hotel costs IDR 125.000, residents' houses are expected to be IDR 75.000-100.000, per night. "For the certainty of the tariff issue, we will discuss it further, including other regulations," he said.

Meanwhile, HIN's Vice President of Travel Management, Susy Napitupulu, said that his party would promote residents' homes that could be used as MotoGP guest accommodations after the team from the Mataram City Government decided.

"Residents who are willing to use their homes as alternative lodging can fill out the form in the application that we have prepared," he said.

The form, he said, did provide some details regarding the condition of the room, for example, whether one or two beds were available, using a fan or air conditioner, outside or inside bathrooms, and others.

"This is intended to make it easier for prospective guests who will stay at one of the houses owned by residents in Mataram City. We hope that Mataram can prepare 25,000 rooms according to the target," he said.
