Horror! Taliban Recruits Suicide Bombers To Join Military
JAKARTA - A senior Taliban official has made a surprising statement. He confirmed that suicide bombing squads would be incorporated into their military to combat threats from their rivals.
Bilal Karimi, the deputy spokesman for the Taliban, said the suicide squad would work as a unit.
The Taliban have in the past carried out frequent suicide bombings, called "martyrdom seekers", against Western forces and their allies. However, it is unclear whether members of the suicide squad will be used as suicide bombers or as permanent members of the army.
"The special forces that include martyrs will be used for more sophisticated and specialized operations," Karimi said.
It is not clear what operation will be performed.
Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan last August, the Islamic State of Khorasan Province (IS-KP), the Afghan branch of the group, has attempted multiple attacks in the country.
IS-KP wrote last year in an editorial in the weekly newspaper al Nabha that the Taliban were merely proxies for the United States. The editorial also criticized the “new Taliban” for wearing an “Islamic guise” to undermine IS-KP in the region.
According to other media, Ariana News, the special Istishhad battalion (martyrdom army) will be part of their future army. Then these troops will be under the ministry of defense.
