New Year's Eve, Traffic At Padang Beach Will Be Engineered

PADANG - Padang City Police together with the Traffic Directorate of the West Sumatra Police have prepared traffic flow engineering in the Padang Beach area on the night of the turn of the year 2021 to 2022.

"On New Year's Eve there are no barriers, but we do make restrictions. Especially the flow to the Padang Beach tourist location," said Padang City Police Chief Kombes Imran Amir, in Padang, Tuesday, December 28.

He said that traffic engineering in the Padang Beach area will be implemented on December 31, 2021, at around 14.00 western Indonesia time until January 1 2022 at 06.00 western Indonesia time.

The entrance to the Padang Beach area is only opened at three points, namely on Samudera street to be precise in front of the Al-Hakim Mosque, Hang Tuah street, and Olo Ladang street.

Meanwhile, for access to exiting tourist sites, which are usually crowded on New Year's Eve, one route is opened, namely at the NPM intersection, to be precise in front of the West Padang Police Station.

Imran said that people who want to enter the coastal area or better known as "Taplau", are residents who have received the second vaccine.

His party together with the Padang Health Service have prepared a PeduliLindungi barcode to detect the vaccination status of visitors.

"We are also preparing vaccinations for residents who have not received the second vaccine, namely at the Al-Hakim Mosque," said the "urang awak" police chief.

The Police Chief emphasized that the public is prohibited from conducting activities that can create crowds, holding processions, fireworks parties, and the like.

Apart from Padang Beach, the entrance to GOR H Agus Salim is also closed. Meanwhile, one-way access is also applied to access to the Siti Nurbaya Bridge from Nipah to Gado-Gado Hill.

To provide security on New Year's Eve, the Padang Police deployed 300 joint personnel who also anticipate crimes. This was reported by Antara.
