No Holidays, Pertamina Refinery In Balikpapan Continues To Operate During The Christmas And New Year 2022 Period

JAKARTA - The Pertamina Balikpapan refinery will continue to operate 24 hours a day as usual during the 2022 Christmas and New Year holidays.

"We have prepared everything needed so that the refinery can continue to produce during this holiday period," said Acting General Manager (Pjs GM) of the Pertamina International Refinery (KPI) Balikpapan Unit Wahyu Sulistyo Wibowo, in Balikpapan, quoted from Antara, Monday, December 27.

Acting GM Wahyu ensures the availability of sufficient crude oil as raw material for gasoline and gasoil products. Gasoline products are Pertamax Turbo, Pertamax, Pertalite, as well as Premium (gasoline) and Kerosene (Kerosene). Gasoil products are diesel and pertadex.

In addition to producing fuel oil (BBM), it is also the duty of KPI for these products to be distributed and well received by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga which is in charge of marketing and meeting supply demand.

"We have carried out intensive coordination with Pertamina Patra Niaga, especially the Kalimantan Region as the spearhead of marketing gasoline and gasoil products, even since the Christmas holiday some time ago. This coordination is important to ensure that consumer needs are in accordance with what will be produced, so the task of Pertamina Group distribution of fuel to the community can be completed properly," explained Wahyu.

In addition, Wahyu emphasized that occupational safety and health also remain a top priority. Fuel must be produced safely and safely.

Prior to this, PT KPI Balikpapan Unit had just received the Zero Accident Award for 13.595.334 working hours, namely in the period 26 September 2018 to 31 December 2020. Then from January 2021 to November 2021, 19.802.305 working hours were achieved without work accidents.

"We ask for the support of stakeholders such as the city government, security forces, customs, harbormasters of Semayang Port, and the community especially around the refinery to help us so that refinery operations can continue to run well and fuel needs for the community can be maintained and people can enjoy the new year comfortably," said Wahyu.

The Balikpapan refinery currently produces 260.000 barrels of fuel per day. The current Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project will increase production capacity to 360 thousand barrels of fuel per day.
