Pandeglang Regent Trophy Prize Rp45 Thousand Went Viral, DPR Will Call Menpora Asking Commitment To Coaching Athletes

JAKARTA - Commission X of the House of Representatives will summon the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali, to ask for a commitment to coaching athletes both nationally and regionally.

This follows the viral prize of the Pandeglang Regent's Cup which was less appreciative. Where the Third Place Pencak Silat Pandeglang Regent Cup only received a prize of Rp45 thousand. While the third place for rock climbing is only Rp95 thousand.

"We at Commission X DPR RI will urge the commitment to coaching athletes not only in the government but also in regional governments," said member of Commission X DPR RI Zainuddin Maliki, Tuesday, December 21.

According to him, the Youth and Sports Service (Dispora) and the organizing committee for the Pandeglang Regent Cup should be given awareness to appreciate athletes more. So that regional athletes can develop their achievements.

"This needs to be made aware of the importance of giving awards to our athletes," said Zainuddin.

In the future, Zainuddin hopes that the central government and local governments can better appreciate the achievements of the athletes. Included in the sport of pencak silat and other sports.

"The commitment is requested to allocate an adequate budget, so that our athletes can receive more appropriate awards," he said.

It is known, after being crowded, the Pandeglang Regent's Cup prize was only Rp45 thousand for pencak silat and Rp95 thousand for rock climbing. Pandeglang Regent, Irna Narulita, added prizes for silat, rock climbing, and karate sports with a total of Rp57 million.

Irna Narulita asked the Youth and Sports Office (Dispora) to calculate the ability it has to hold the match, not to force it if the budget is limited.

"If you don't have money, you don't have to hold all sports, if you don't have (funds) ask the Regent or find sponsors. It's impossible to have enough Rp150 million for three sports with 120 prizes to be awarded, the committee should have considered this," said the Regent Pandeglang, Irna Narulita, Monday, December 20.

Irna admitted that she did not know about the Pandeglang Regent Cup held by Dispora. The awarding of only tens of thousands of prizes was considered to hurt the feelings of the athletes. Irna asked that there be no more events because they could not appreciate the role and struggle of the athletes in Pandeglang Regency.

"I'm sorry, this really hurts our young athletes. We will add prizes for the champions and coaches, the flag can be flown because of achievements in the field of sports," he explained.

In the photo that was circulating, the envelope was accompanied by several bills and the logo of the Pandeglang Regency Government. The envelope for the second place winner contains Rp165 thousand, and the envelope for the third winner is Rp95 thousand.

The Head of Breeding and Sports Achievement of the Pandeglang Regency Dispora, Ahmad Jubaedi, confirmed that the prize for the rock climbing champion in the 2021 Regent's Cup was indeed the same amount.

He said the sporting activity was an annual event with a budget of Rp150 million this year. Meanwhile, the prizes reached Rp30 million for four sports. Namely karate, rock climbing, pencak silat, and futsal with 50 match numbers.

"Rp150 million for four sports, although 15 sports, due to budget and time, they are chasing SPJ," said Ahmad Jubaedi, Saturday, December 18.

Of the four sports that were contested, the nominal amount of the prize money given was the same and that was in accordance with the agreement with the committee.

Of the Rp150 million budgeted, not all of them were given to the winners, but there was also a budget for the committee.

"One sport has a fee. This is actually an amateur, nothing is given, it doesn't matter," he said.
