Youtube Finally Reached A Deal With Walt Disney, Disney Shows Can Be Reaccessed
JAKARTA - Alphabet Inc's YouTube began restoring access to the Walt Disney Co channel on its platform on Sunday, December 19, after the company reached a distribution agreement to end a two-day blackout.
YouTube tweeted that "we have reached an agreement with Disney and are already starting to restore access to channels like ESPN and FX." However, neither company disclosed their terms and financial agreements.
YouTube warned last week that it would only renew its agreement with Disney if the company offered "fair terms" and announced that it was cutting the monthly price for YouTube TV by $15, from $64.99 to $49.99.
On Sunday, YouTube said monthly subscriptions had returned to $64.99, but affected users would receive a one-time $15 discount.
"We value Google's collaboration to achieve fair terms that are consistent with the marketplace," Disney said in a statement Sunday.
YouTube earlier this month struck a multi-year agreement with streaming platform Roku Inc (ROKU.O) to distribute YouTube's flagship TV app and service, ending a months-long battle over allegations of anti-competitive behavior.
