DKI Prepares 2.100 Cleaning Troops During Christmas Celebration

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency has deployed 2.100 officers to keep the city clean during the Christmas Eve celebrations. They will also ensure that garbage does not accumulate during Christmas celebrations in the capital.

Head of the Environmental Service Asep Kuswanto said there were at least 50 personnel handling cleanliness in each sub-district who ensured that Christmas and its series of celebrations went well in every church.

"All Sub-Departments at the City Administration level and the Environmental Implementing Units in each district have been instructed to anticipate the cleanliness of the church environment in their respective areas of duty," Asep said in his statement, Monday, December 20.

Especially for large churches that have more congregations, the officers and fleet handling the cleanliness of the Environment Agency are assigned more optimally.

For example, at the Cathedral and Emanuel Churches in Central Jakarta, the Chicken Church in West Jakarta, the Adventist Church, and HKBP Pasar Minggu in South Jakarta, The Theresia Church in East Jakarta, and the Tiberias Church in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

"Although churches are advised to do so through the SE Ministry of Religion No. 33 of 2021 concerning the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 at the 2021 Christmas Celebration that when holding Christmas worship it is carried out in a hybrid manner, namely in the congregation/collectively in church and online. However, our scenario is still optimal service, of course, the officers use adequate PPE," he explained.

Furthermore, Asep said that the preparation for handling hygiene during Christmas was still in the normal scenario. The Environment Agency has prepared an operation plan, task force, equipment, and waste handling fleet.

In addition, the Environment Service has also prepared garbage collection vehicles, road sweepers or automatic road sweepers, mobile toilets, wheeled trash cans, and alerted the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) to operate 24 hours to provide services on Christmas Eve.

"The Environmental Services (LH) Department has also deployed a pick-up team in the church environment in collaboration with the related village public infrastructure and facilities (PPSU) officers," he concluded.
