Firli Bahuri: According To President Jokowi's Directives, The KPK Continues To Improve And Make New Breakthroughs

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to improve its performance and make new breakthroughs. This is in accordance with the order of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) which was conveyed in his speech during the 2021 World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) on 9 December.

"According to President Joko Widodo's directives, the KPK always continues to improve, making new breakthroughs to perfect every method of dealing with corruption so that it is far from exciting, let alone causing chaos," Firli said in a written statement to reporters, Monday, December 20.

As for the improvements and breakthroughs, he continued, they were carried out in a more fundamental and comprehensive manner. Thus, the benefits of eradicating corruption will be felt by the community in the future.

In addition, Firli said, an asset-recovery approach, non-tax state revenues, and mitigating corruption crimes must also be taken. The goal is to prevent state losses.

Next, the KPK also continues to synergize with other law enforcement officers, one of which is the Attorney General's Office. Firli said that synergy must be carried out in order to implement the money laundering charges through the Money Laundering Law (TPPU).

"And wide open cooperation with other countries in the pursuit of corruptors' assets," he said.

In the future, the public is asked to continue to support the KPK's efforts to eradicate corruption. Moreover, the anti-corruption commission is now trying to build an anti-corruption culture from an early age.

"(The community, ed) is an important part of eradicating corruption so that an anti-corruption mentality is built and formed in every individual in this republic," he concluded.
