Only Dozens Of Foreign Tourists Enter Bali During 2021, The Tourism Condition Of Dewata Island Worsens

DENPASAR - There are only tens of foreign tourists in 2021 who will enter Bali. This has also become the spotlight of foreign media related to the condition of tourism on Dewata Island.

Deputy Chairperson of the Environmental Culture and Public Relations Division of the Regional Management Board of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali, I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Suryawijaya, said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bali's tourism conditions were very bad.

"Yes, it is a fact. We have never (forbid) not to fly directly, only to Jakarta is allowed. That too, is essential and diplomatic", said Suryawijaya, when contacted, Friday, December 17.

According to him, all countries are in the same condition. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, foreign tourists enter Jakarta. After quarantine, some continued their journey to Bali.

"All countries are like that. At this time some come via Jakarta. So get off in Jakarta and the notes are in Jakarta. Then, after he has been quarantined, only a little continues his journey to Bali", he added.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, PHRI Bali recorded a very minimal hotel occupancy rate from foreign tourists.

"During this pandemic, there are people who are still in Bali, foreign guests who are in Bali, there are still many", he said.

"Everyone knows, the facts are serious. That's why our economy contracted in 2020 to minus 9.31 percent and 2021 is starting to rise, for this last quarter I think there will be positive growth because domestic guests have started to contribute to tourism recovery", he explained.
