Ministry Of Religion Collaborates With KPAI And Law Enforcement Officials To Investigate Cases Of Sexual Harassment In Educational Institutions

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion cooperates with the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), and law enforcement officers to investigate cases of sexual harassment in educational institutions, so that the problems they are facing can be resolved as soon as possible.

"We are working together in this investigation process with KPAI, the apparatus, and other parties," said Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in Cirebon, Tuesday, while inaugurating the PAI cyber study program IAIN Cirebon.

According to him, investigations into boarding schools need to be carried out, because similar incidents that occurred in Bandung could have occurred in other places.

For this reason, inter-institutional cooperation, continued Minister of Religion Yaqut, needs to be carried out, so that similar cases can be uncovered, and it is hoped that there will be no more similar cases.

"I have ordered all ranks to investigate schools such as 'boarding schools'," he said.

The Minister of Religion added that cases of sexual violence and sexual harassment are certainly not good for children of the nation and religion, especially when these cases are carried out by leaders of educational institutions in the name of religion.

"This is not only detrimental to Islam, but also how children are victims, their families are very sorry," he said.

In addition, the Ministry of Religion will also tighten the operational licensing of "boarding schools" and the like, so that such incidents do not happen again.

"We will improve the 'boarding school' operational permit mechanism. It is not permissible for a recommendation that appears from the Ministry of Religion to only be in the form of paper, you have to come and see it and then the permit is issued," he said.
