JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said Tebelian Sintang Airport in West Kalimantan is ready to be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today, Wednesday, December 8.

"Today I went to Tebelian Airport to check the condition of the airport's land and air side facilities, which are planned to be inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo on Wednesday," said Budi Karya Sumadi in Sintang, West Kalimantan, quoted from Antara.

Budi said that Tebelian Sintang Airport was built in 2011 and will continue to be developed until 2020 with a total cost of around IDR 580 billion.

According to him, the airport was built to replace the existing airport, namely Susilo Airport, which can no longer be developed because it is located in the city center and surrounded by residential areas.

Budi said that the development of Tebelian Airport was carried out on an area of about 153.6 hectares, which had been granted by the Sintang Regency Government to the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation.

Tebelian Airport currently has a passenger terminal covering an area of 2.000 square meters capable of serving 75 thousand passengers per year, a runway length of 1.820 meters, and a width of 30 meters that can accommodate aircraft of the ATR-72/600 type, taxiway 160 meters x 18 meters and Apron 220 meters x 60 meters, which can accommodate 4 ATR-72 aircraft.
