Dortmund Vs Besiktas: The Black Yellow Won 5-0 But Failed To Reach The Last 16
JAKARTA - Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus and Erling Haaland scored twice apiece in the team's 5-0 thrashing of Besiktas in their final Champions League Group C game on Wednesday.
The Bundesliga team finished third with the same 9 points as Sporting, who was ranked second, but lost on goal difference so they had to settle for the Europa League.
This victory is also a sweet revival after losing in the league a few days earlier to Bayern Munich.
Reus scored his first goal from a penalty kick in first-half extra time which he doubled with a superb solo effort. Meanwhile, Haaland scored twice from headers after coming on as a substitute.
As reported by Antara, Ajax Amsterdam and Sporting advanced to the last 16 while Besiktas finished last after losing all of their six group stage matches.
The hosts, who lost 3-2 to Bayern in the domestic league last Saturday, took the lead after an arrangement by Jude Bellingham who led his side's midfield to pass for Dutchman Donyell Malen who slotted the ball in without goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu with half an hour ticking.
Bellingham was previously fined 40.000 euros by the German Football Association (DFB) for criticizing referee Felix Zwayer during their defeat against Bayern.
