'We Beg You To Keep Rizieq Shihab Free', The Request Of The Madura Ulama Alliance To Commission III
JAKARTA - The Madura Ulama Alliance attended a meeting with an opinion with Commission III of the House of Representatives. They asked the House of Representatives' Legal Commission to release Rizieq Shihab.
"For Commission III to oversee and oversee the legal process, for the sake of justice in the community according to the authority of Commission III", said Secretary-General of the Madura Ulama Alliance, KH. Fadholi Mohammad Ruham during a public hearing (RDPU) with Commission III at the House of Representatives Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 7.
Fadholi explained that the sentence of four years in prison and or two years after the cassation decision was very inappropriate and violated the principles of justice for Rizieq Shihab.
"We ask Commission III of the Indonesia House of Representatives to try to release HRS without conditions", Fadholi hoped.
According to the cleric from Pamekasan, the verdict is inappropriate and violates the principle of justice which is full of political interests. Fadholi also quoted a verse in Surah Almaidah which means don't hate a people and encourage you to act unfairly.
During the meeting, the Madura Ulama Alliance also submitted two letters to the leadership of Commission III of the House of Representatives. The letter was handed over by the chairman of the Madura Ulama Alliance, KH Ali Karrar Shinhaji, to the Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Prince Khairul Saleh.
Meanwhile, a member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Mr. HR Muhammad Syafi'i, appreciated the steps taken by the ulama from the Madura Ulama Alliance.
"People think that ulama can only read books, it turns out that the movement has been carried out according to constitutional schemes and methods", said Syafi'i.
Syafi'i said that in general, the HRS issue understood by many people was not a legal issue, but a political issue.
"People tend to say it's a political case", he said.
In fact, Syafi'i emphasized that several parties had predicted that HRS would not be released before the election was over.
"Want to use any argument", said Syafi'i firmly.
He said previously there had been a similar group to convey aspirations related to HRS. Syafi'i hopes that it must continue to be carried out by constitutional means.
"Our attitude is the same, where the law must be enforced with the principles of truth, honesty, and justice", said Syafi'i.
