Transjakarta Bus Hits Pedestrians To Death In Pasar Minggu, Victim Bouncing 5 Meters

JAKARTA - A pedestrian crossing the Transjakarta route became the victim of an accident on Taman Margasatwa Street, Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. The bus was speeding from south to north.

According to eyewitnesses of the incident, the victim was crossing the road and was hit by a Transjakarta bus numbered B 7107 PGA and bounced about five meters. The victim suffered several injuries and died.

The victim's body was then taken to the Jakarta RSCM for further processing. Meanwhile, the case of the Transjakarta bus accident was handled by the Traffic Directorate of Metro Jaya Police.

Head of Sub-Directorate of Law Enforcer of Traffic Directorate (Gakkum Ditlantas) of Metro Jaya Police, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Argo Wiyono said the pedestrian victim who was hit by a Transjakarta bus did not cross the pedestrian crossing bridge (JPO).

"So pedestrians cross the road but not in the right place," said Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Argo Wiyono when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, December 7.

Moreover, from the results of the crime scene (TKP) it was found that the location of the incident lacked lighting so that the area was quite dark.

"The lighting is minimal, visibility and drizzle maybe the driver's concentration is not too maximal," he said.

Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Argo assessed that the perpetrator (Transjakarta bus driver) who hit and the victim was a pedestrian in this incident made a mistake. Pedestrians crossing the road are not in the right place and the Transjakarta bus driver has an element of negligence.

"So between the two, there is an element of negligence, both the pedestrian and the driver. When the incident happened, the Transjakarta bus wanted to return to the pool because the incident was already at 10 pm," he said.

Until now, the Head of Sub-Directorate for Law Enforcer of Traffic Directorate, Metro Jaya Police is still conducting an investigation regarding the accident.

"The driver with the initials YK is currently being investigated, we are still investigating. The inspection process is still ongoing," said Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Argo Wiyono.
