Zoom Launches New Feature, Late Participants Can Now Be Noticed!

JAKARTA - It is not uncommon to find participants who are often late for virtual meetings on the Zoom application, and as hosts cannot find out which participants are late.

Now thanks to Zoom's new feature, hosts and admins can find out who is late. This feature will help ensure users arrive at the meeting on time.

Currently, there are still many workers and students who implement remote systems by relying on applications such as Zoom for virtual meetings and learning. This app may soon prove to be more problematic for those who tend to attend meetings at the last minute.

Zoom confirmed that it introduced the “Status of Attendance” feature that is integrated with Google calendar or Outlook, to see if the invitation has been accepted (or declined) and whether the person has joined the meeting or not.

Those who haven't joined the call will be visible under the new "Not Joined" list in the Participants view. Even so, the feature is still in beta and only applies to free accounts.

Zoom said it would roll out “Status Attendance” to more accounts in the coming months. This is really a useful feature for hosts and admins to keep track of who shows up and who doesn't.

While this is not a problem for those who often arrive early to meetings, it can be a problem for those who are sometimes a few minutes late to meetings.

Luckily, Presence Status doesn't show any notifications to hosts or admins who's late. For now, if they want to know who hasn't attended, they have to look at the Attendees list to see who has joined, who hasn't, and who is waiting to join the meeting.

Additionally, all participants will need to have Zoom version 5.8.0 or later on Mac and Windows to enable the feature. That feature doesn't work yet for those running Zoom on iOS, Android, or other platforms.

For your information, Zoom has exploded over the past year thanks to the pandemic and increasing reliance on remote work and learning. Outside of work and school, Zoom is also proving to be a popular way for friends and family to stay in touch when meeting face-to-face isn't possible.

Zoom has also made a number of changes recently. For example, the service is now testing the use of ads for free users. Along with rolling out Zoom's call length limiting capabilities, these are some of the ways the service looks to incentivize users to upgrade to a paid subscription.
