550 Migrant Workers In West Nusa Tenggara Fight For 200 Work Tickets For Construction In Taiwan

NTB - A total of 550 residents from several districts/cities in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) participated in the selection to become candidates for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) for the construction sector in Taiwan.

The selection, which was held by the Association of Indonesian Employment Service Companies (Apjati) NTB, was centered at the Lombok Mandiri Overseas Job Training Center (BLKLN), West Lombok Regency, Wednesday, December 1.

"The enthusiasm of the people who register is extraordinary, of the 550 people who took part in the selection, later only 200 people will be dispatched to Taiwan," said Chairman of Apjati NTB Muhammadun, as quoted by Antara.

He said the selection was carried out in collaboration with PT Trias Insan Madani as the Implementing Private TKI Placement (PPTKIS) which will dispatch PMI candidates from NTB to Taiwan.

NTB residents who take part in the selection process are at least 20 years old and a maximum of 40 years old with a minimum education level of Junior High School or its equivalent.

Muhammadun added, after the selection process was carried out, the PMI candidates who passed would have their health checked. After that, they were given language training and construction skills at BLKLN Lombok Mandiri, before departing in February 2022.

"For the initial departure as many as 90 people first because there is a quarantine policy in Taiwan for 21 days. The next departure will be in March 2022," he said.

According to Muhammadun, the existence of job opportunities in Taiwan is a breath of fresh air for NTB residents, especially men who have been waiting for PMI candidates to depart abroad for a long time.

"The salary that will be given in Taiwan reaches Rp12.5 million per month. Overtime has not been calculated because on average in Taiwan, there is overtime work," said Muhammadun who is also in charge of BLKLN Lombok Mandiri.

Representative of PT Trias Insan Madani Edi Ginting said his party looked at PMI candidates from NTB after conducting field surveys and assessments with Apjati NTB. As a result, relatively many fans.

"That's why we came directly to NTB to select what attitude and competence or experience. Including height is also a consideration," he said.
