Gregoria Admits He Failed In The Second Round Of The Indonesia Open Due To His Own Mistakes

JAKARTA - The unsatisfactory result must be accepted by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung at the Indonesia Open 2021. The women's singles from the Indonesian representative ran aground in the second round after being defeated by the Thai representative, Pornpawee Chochuwong.

Gregoria admits that she is not satisfied with her appearance this time. Moreover, the bad results in that match were also because she often made her own mistakes.

"Honestly, I'm still not satisfied with the performance earlier, because in the second game I made a lot of mistakes myself when the opponent had started to change the pattern of the game", said Gregoria, quoted from information received by VOI.

In the second round which took place at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua on Thursday, November 25, Gregoria was forced to surrender by Pornpawee. After going through a tough game ruber, Gregoria lost with a final score of 21-11, 9-21, 20-22.

Regarding the course of the match, Gregoria revealed that she actually wanted to be more defensive to anticipate Pornpawee's counter-attack and maintain her lead in the third game. However, she hesitated again and the opponent took advantage of the moment to be able to attack freely.

"In the third game I was too careful, I wanted to play it safe but instead became hesitant so the opponent was more free to press attack", she said.

Even though her hopes of winning the title at the 2021 Indonesia Open failed, Grogoria was not discouraged because she also did not qualify for the World Tour Finals (WTF). She chose to focus on correcting mistakes in order to perform better when she went down in the world championship.

"I certainly want to give the best. I didn't qualify for the WTF, so I have a few weeks before preparation. Hopefully what is lacking here (Indonesia Open 2021) and in the previous match can be fixed in time before leaving for the world championship", she concluded.
