30 Urban Villages In Palangka Raya Affected By Floods, Mayor Fairid Naparin Sets Emergency Response Status

PALANGKA RAYA - The City Government of Palangka Raya in Central Kalimantan Province has established a flood emergency response status for 14 days from 12 to 25 November 2021.

"The status of the flood emergency response will be re-evaluated. It could be revoked or extended. Everything is adjusted to conditions on the ground", said Palangka Raya Mayor, Fairid Naparin, in Palangka Raya as reported by Antara, Monday, November 15.

Floods hit 17 of the 30 urban villages in Palangka Raya City. As of Sunday, November 14, 2021, flooding was recorded to have affected 10,739 residents of the city.

Sub-districts whose areas were affected by flooding include Tangkiling, Banturung, Sei Gohong, Tumbang Tahai, Tumbang Rungan, Pahandut Seberang, Pahandut, Lake Tunda, Kameloh Baru, Bereng Bengkel, Kalampangan, Tanjung Pinang, Langkai, Palangka, Bukit Tunggal, Petuk Katimpun, and Marang. .

The flood disaster that occurred due to overflowing water from the Kahayan River, Rungan River, and Sabangau River caused inundation as high as 20 to 60 cm in these villages.

The mayor said the government had provided evacuation posts and public kitchens to meet the needs of flood victims.
