Government Moves Quickly To Secure Green Energy Supply, Optimizing The Role Of Dieng PLTP

JAKARTA - The government through the Deputy Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, made a working visit to the Dieng Wonosobo Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP), Central Java to ensure the process of accelerating, developing, and utilizing clean energy sources in electricity production.

According to the Deputy Minister of Finance, the provision of electricity through green methods must be carried out sustainably to maintain the environment.

“New renewable energy (EBT) is energy for today and the future, not an option. Indonesia must switch to renewable energy for electricity", he said in a press statement when he visited a production facility owned by PT Geo Dipa Energi, quoted on Sunday, November 14.

The Vice Minister of Finance added that to accelerate the utilization of geothermal energy, strong collaboration and synergy are needed, between the central government, regional governments, and also business actors.

"We will continue this collaboration to provide support and benefit to the community. I trust it so that it doesn't become a stand-alone project", he said.

On the same occasion, Geo Dipa's President Director, Riki Firmandha Ibrahim, said that his party will always maintain the government's mandate to produce quality energy in environmentally friendly ways.

"Hopefully, with the cooperation we have built, we can continue to develop Dieng as an electricity production area with good environmental insight, as well as other government assignments", he said.

For information, Geo Dipa received a mandate from the government to manage other Geothermal Working Areas (WKP) at Telomoyo Umbul Temple (40 MW), Arjuno Welirang (110 MW). In addition, this state-owned business entity is said to be carrying out government assignments for the Government Drilling project in Jailolo, Wae Sano, Nage, and Bituang.

Meanwhile, the Dieng PLTP is a tangible manifestation of the state's presence in meeting the needs of the community regarding the provision of electricity sourced from new, renewable, and environmentally friendly energy sources. This is at the same time Indonesia's commitment to the world in reducing carbon emissions.

Just so you know, at the COP26 meeting in Glasgow some time ago all countries, including Indonesia, have committed to achieving net-zero emissions (NZE) by 2060 by reducing carbon caused by fossil energy and maintaining more aggressive forests through achievements by 2030.
