As the owner of Avian, Hermanto Tanoko is listed as the second generation in this family company from Surabaya, East Java. Just so you know, the success that he embraced was not obtained instantly.

Based on the information gathered by the editors, little Hermanto had to struggle to survive. This condition also made him mentally trained to be in his current position.

In literature, it is known that Hermanto Tanoko was born in a house that was previously a former chicken coop. The house is said to only measure 1.5 meters x 9 meters which were rented by his family in the Malang area, East Java.

His father, Soetikno Tanoko, works as a trader. He cycled from village to village to buy local produce for later sale in the city. Meanwhile, the mother helps the family's economy by selling used clothes in front of the house.

In 1962 Soetikno Tanoko decided to open a paint shop. This is where Avian's origins begin. At that time, Hermanto Tanoko was only five years old. However, his business skills started when he was able to manage the gifts his parents gave him to use in productive activities.

That said, the father offered Hermanto to invest the money to buy merchandise that could potentially increase in price the next day. Hermanto also agreed. Since then Hermanto is 'addicted' to business.

Along the way, the Tanoko family's paint sales business prospered. Then in 1978 Hermanto was asked by his father to help set up the Avian paint factory. At the beginning of its operation, Avian only had 18 employees.

Since then, the Tanoko family's paint production facility has continued to grow. In fact, Tan Corp Group is the parent entity of PT Avia Avian Tbk. now has 8 sub holdings, 77 companies, and more than 300 brands with 15,000 employees.
