This Week, Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya Will Be Examined By The KPK In The Case Of Bribery For The Rail Project

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi will be summoned again by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) this week. This is the second summons because he asked for a reschedule as a witness in the bribery case of a rail project.

"He (Budi, ed) also had time to convey that this Sunday when it was finished it would soon be carried out (the examination as a witness, ed)," Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur told reporters, Monday, July 24.

Asep still has a close time for sure the summons. This is because Budi's examination will be adjusted to his schedule as a minister and not coincided when he left town.

"Just wait this week, yes, when it's finished, our job is also not to interfere with state duties," he said.

Budi is expected to fulfill this call. Moreover, the rescheduling according to his request has been granted by the anti-corruption commission.

"He is a state official, of course, also supports efforts to enforce the law on corruption," he said.

Budi should have been questioned on Friday, July 14. However, he is currently serving, so he asked for a reschedule.

Previously, the KPK named 10 suspects for alleged bribery related to the construction and maintenance of railway lines within the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation for Fiscal Year 2018-2022. Six recipients were Director of Railway Infrastructure Harno Trimadi; Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Central Java Railway Engineering Center (BTP) Bernard Hasibuan; and Head of Central Java BTP Putu Sumarjaya.

Then there is also the PPK of the South Sulawesi Railway Management Center (BPKA) Achmad Affandi; PPK for Rail Infrastructure, Fadliansyah; and the West Java BTP (Jabagbar) PPK Syntheto Pirjani Hutabarat.

While the rest were bribe givers, namely the Director of PT Istana Putra Agung, Dion Renato Sugiarto; Director of PT Dwifarita Fajarkharisma, Muchamad Hikmat; Vice President of PT KA Management Properti, Parjono; and former Director of PT KA Management Properti, Yoseph Ibrahim.

The KPK suspects that six DJKA officials from the Ministry of Transportation received bribes of Rp. 14.5 billion related to the railway project in Indonesia.

There are four projects that are suspected of being the bancakan, namely, the project to build the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso Double railway line; a railway line construction project in Makassar, South Sulawesi; four railway construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan Cianjur, West Java; and a project to repair the Java-Sumatra level crossing.
