JAKARTA Microsoft has dismissed allegations that the company used customer data from Microsoft 365 apps, including Word and Excel, to train artificial intelligence (AI) models.

This statement was made after concerns surfaced on social media regarding the "connected experiences" feature which is said to allow the use of user data to train AI models.

"The information is not true. Microsoft does not use customer data from the Microsoft 365 application, both for consumers and commercials, to train large language models," a Microsoft spokesperson said in a written statement.

The spokesperson added that the "connected experiences" feature is intended to support services such as joint collaboration (co-auction) and cloud storage, and is not related to the company's AI model training process.

However, conversations on social media show that user concerns regarding data privacy are still quite high, especially regarding the possibility that their data is being used without permission for AI training purposes.
