JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that data is a new type of wealth that is more valuable than oil. He expressed this statement at the MPR Annual Session, Friday, August 16, 2019. In fact, so far oil is the most valuable commodity in the world.

It can also be seen from the tech giants who are able to have impressive records on Wall Street. Call it Amazon, Google, Twitter, and Facebook. The company is a company that maximizes user data for business purposes and so on.

To answer this, we spoke with Fajar Jaman, a founder of Data Science Indonesia and CEO of IYKRA who has been working in the data sector for the past 10 years. He shared his experience and knowledge of data as a commodity. Not only that, he also shared stories about Facebook, which had sold "insights" for news media needs several years ago. In a previous VOI journal, Fajar had talked about "Indonesia's Readiness to Face the Development of Big Data" and "The Rubber Article and the Disadvantages of the PDP Bill".
