JAKARTA - A drone called the T-600 - with the same name as thekungan robot - successfully launched a torpedo from the sky.

BAE Systems showcased the feat during NATO exercises, involving human controllers operating a quadcopter tied with torpedoes from the dock and above the ocean, where the drone fired the weapon.

The T-600, electric and car-sized, has a cargo capacity of 200 kg, a maximum speed of up to 140 km per hour, and a range of up to 80 km.

The demonstration aims to demonstrate T-600 anti-submarine warfare capabilities and their potential in automatic logistics, resupply, evacuation, and handling of victims.

The T-600 is an artificial intelligence-powered machine that takes over the world in a well-known jam series, and has combat endoskeletons made of titanium alloys, sometimes covered with synthetic latex.

The T-600 shows that the capability is part of the 'T' quadcopter series produced by Malloy Aeronautics and is designed to carry up to 272 kg.

This demonstration, conducted by BAE Systems and Malloy Aeronautics, was held in Portugal, September.

During the demonstration, the T-600 successfully released the torpedo anti-Sting Ray anti-submarine training which was inactive during a flight mission at sea for the first time.

The exercise, known as the REPMUS (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unstructured Systems) involved 15 NATO partners, along with Ireland and Sweden.

Neil Appleton, Head of Sustainable Electric Products, BAE Systems Air, said: 'In just two years since we launched our collaboration with Malloy, we have developed heavy transport UAS and, in collaboration with the British Royal Navy and Portugal Navy, have participated in the latest NATO REPMUS exercises.

"The demonstration showcased the capabilities of our T-600 demonstrator technology, which carries the inactive Sting Ray torpedo in front of the world's best navy," Appleton said, quoted by MailOnline.

'This is a fantastic achievement in our collaboration with Malloy and a sign of our shared ambition to bring new capabilities to our customers," he said.

BAE Systems plans to use the T-600 as the basis for the T-650, a fully electric and quickly reorganized heavy transport UAS for military, commercial, and humanitarian customers.

The T-650 will provide significant capabilities in automated logistics and resupply, evacuation of victims, and anti-submarine warfare while reducing the environmental impact of the armed forces.
