Saatchi Gallery Holds Exhibition Of NFT Digital Art "Long Live London"

JAKARTA - Saatchi Gallery, which has been the center of attention of contemporary art since its founding in 1985, now presents its first Non-Fungible Token (NFT) digital art exhibition entitled "Long Live London." The exhibition will take place from October 4 to 6, as part of the Focus Art Fair in the gallery.

This exhibition is a bold step in combining NFT digtal art with traditional art. Curated by Grida, a well-known digital art curator, this exhibition shows how NFT (Non-Fungible Token) art enters a wider world of art.

As the first NFT exhibition curator in Korea and the Punkism exhibition featuring CryptoPunk derivative art from 100 different artists, Grida brings valuable experience to the Saatchi Gallery. He considered it important to present digital components at physical exhibitions, bringing blockchain technology to the art world in an innovative way.

The works on display include works such as "The Surprise" by OSF artists, "London Eye" by Leo Crane, "London Cipher" by ARTJEDI, and "The Silent Watch" by Claire Maguire. Each of these works celebrates London in a different way, reflecting its rich history, vibrant culture, and famous icons.

Participants feel proud to be part of efforts to integrate NFT digital art into a wider art landscape. OSF, a London-based artist, feels the move is very significant and calls it an extraordinary opportunity to showcase his work at the Saatchi Gallery.

In addition, Claire Maguire, an advisor to Web3 and digital art enthusiast, will showcase her work for the first time at this exhibition after years of being a collector. His work entitled "The Silent Watch" depicts a woman in a striking red color, showing strength in calm.

NFT's participation in the Saatchi Gallery is another example of a leading art institution that embraces blockchain technology. France's famous art gallery, Musee d'Orsay, recently announced its partnership with the Tezos Foundation to enter the NFT digital art space. In fact, the Museum of Modern Art has also announced a collection of NFT Postcards in honor of creativity in the blockchain world.

Apart from "Long Live London," Saatchi Gallery will also hold an "All-Star Collectors" exhibition on October 7, featuring well-known collectors such as Punk6529, Vincent Van Dough, Basileus, Sebastien Borget, Seophrise, and many others.

Although some members of the art community expressed concerns about the lack of diversity in the list of collectors, Grida, the exhibition curator, confirmed that she had included female and nonbinary artists in previous exhibitions, and would continue to do so.
