JAKARTA - Last year Spotify announced that users will be able to buy and listen to hundreds of thousands of audiobooks on its platform. Now, Spotify will offer more than 150,000 new audiobooks as part of its Spotify Premium subscription.

The service will initially launch in the US and Australia starting today, and will then launch in the US at the end of 2023, with more markets in the future.

"For starters, we offer each individual Premium, as well as a package manager for Family and Duo accounts, 15 hours of listening per month," the company wrote in an announcement on its blog.

Now, eligible users will benefit more from their Premium subscriptions, including an on-demand catalog containing more than 100 million songs, 5 million podcasts, and more than 150,000 audiobooks.

"We believe that offering personalized music, podcasts and audiobooks on one platform gives you the best way to connect with your favorite artists, podcasters, content creators and writers all in one place," added Spotify.

That way, you can not only listen to some of your favorite author's works, but you can also listen to podcasts where fans dissect the smallest details of a story, without leaving the app.

"So they might focus on one title and finish it, or have ten open books and walk through everything slowly. That flexibility is a real benefit of our product. And they will have 15 hours a month to listen to that content mix," said Owen Smith, Head of Spotify's Audiobook Products and Technology.
