Kominfo Cooperates With Denmark And Finland To Present Disaster Technology

JAKARTA - The Commercial Coordinator/Head of Trade of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jacob Kahl Jepsen and Finnish Ambassador to Indonesia, HE Pekka Kaihilahti visited the Ministry of Communication and Information recently.

After the meeting, Kominfo Minister Budi Arie Setiadi told the media that the meeting discussed cooperation in the field of disaster technology.

"Indonesia is working with Denmark and Finland to explore the possibility of the construction of a Public Protection for Disaster Relief. So, we hope there is an exchange of technology and so far our relationship with the Nordic state, in this case Denmark and Finland are very good," explained Budi.

Because according to Budi, such technology is very necessary, considering that in Indonesia there are frequent natural disasters, especially since Indonesia is an archipelagic country in the ring of fire area.

Budi also said that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth 475 million euros (Rp) had been signed by the Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi with the Danish Foreign Minister.

"We are also coordinating with partners such as the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB)," he continued.

Thus, the Minister of Communication and Information hopes that the use of digital technology in disaster management which includes early warning systems, handling during disasters and after this disaster will reduce the number of victims due to disasters. Whether it's due to tectonic or volcanic earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
