JAKARTA - Google has kept its promise to bring its Duet AI to Google Workspace, bringing many features, from automatic document summarization to virtual avatars that can attend meetings when the user is not present.

Several features were announced at Google I/O back in May, but are coming to Workspace for the first time. With Duet AI on Google Meet, meetings attended by users will have the best sound, appearance, and studio lighting.

There are also dynamic tiles and face detection which provides participants in the meeting room with a user's own video tile for easy viewing.

"Automatically translated text for 18 languages is also present in Google Meet, which will automatically detect when another language is used and display the translation in real-time," Google said in its announcement, reported on Wednesday, August 30.

Duet AI can also capture notes, action items, and video snippets in real-time with the new “take notes for me” feature, then a summary will be sent to attendees after the meeting.

Likewise when users cannot attend meetings and want to submit input. Duet AI can join the meeting on behalf of the user, pass on the message, and make sure they get the recap.

Furthermore, on Google Chat, users can chat directly with Duet AI to ask questions about content, get summaries of shared documents and follow missed conversations.

"When you need to talk about it in real time, you can switch to voice in an instant by chatting in Chat, right from the room you're collaborating with," says Google.

Google says, currently in Chat users can involve as many as 500,000 participants. When you need to respond to emails right away, companies are enhancing smart replies in Gmail with Duet AI, making it easy for users to draft longer, more personalized replies.

The technology giant from Mountain View, California, USA also emphasizes that all Duet AI actions are personal. No other users will see the user's data and Google does not use their data to train models without permission.

Unfortunately, Duet AI for Google Workspace is currently only intended for businesses, where each user will be required to pay US$30 (Rp.456 thousand) per month.
