Coinbase Executive Claims To Find Jailbreak On ChatGPT That Can Predict Future Crypto Prices

JAKARTA - An executive from Coinbase, Conor Grogan, claims to have discovered a "jailbreak" for a ChatGPT artificial intelligence tool that allows the tool to calculate the probability of a peculiar crypto pricing scenario.

Grogan, who is a diligent ChatGPT user, shared a screenshot of the results in a tweet on April 30, showing that ChatGPT stated there was 15% chance that Bitcoin would "disappear" with prices falling more than 99.99% by 2035.

Meanwhile, chatbots show a 20% chance for Ether that becomes irrelevant and approaches a price level close to zero by 2035. ChatGPT is even less confident about Litecoin and Dogecoin, attributing 35% and 45% probability respectively for both coins close to zero.

Grogan concluded that ChatGPT is generally a "big fan" of Bitcoin but remains "more skeptical" when it comes to altcoins.

Prior to making crypto predictions, Grogan asked ChatGPT to set up opportunities for several political predictions involving Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Joe Biden, and former US President Donald Trump. Other predictions are aimed at the impact of artificial intelligence on humanity, religion, and the presence of aliens.

Alien has visited Earth and is being covered up by the government, reading one of the unusual predictions in which ChatGPT sets a 10% probability.

Grogan also shared a script from a prompt which he then put into ChatGPT to build a table. Grogan supports the accuracy of the result by claiming to have tested the prompt more than 100 times.

On March 15, Grogan showed that the latest GPT-4 iteration of ChatGPT can identify security vulnerabilities in Ethereum's smart contracts and provide an overview of exploiting damaged contracts.

The study conducted by the OpenAI team behind ChatGPT has shown that GPT-4 can pass high school exams and legal school exams with a score in 90th percentile ranking.
