Lionel Scaloni Wants To Leave The Argentine National Team

JAKARTA - Agentina coach, Lionel Scaloni, suddenly expressed his desire to resign. He said the plan was after bringing Argentina a 1-0 win over Brazil in the big match of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Zone Conmebol.

Argentina's victory over Brazil at the Maracana Stadium, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 morning WIB, brought La Albiceleste back to the top of the standings with points 15. Meanwhile, Brazil is stuck in sixth place with seven points.

After the match, which was marked by chaos by supporters, Scaloni expressed his desire to place the position of Argentine coach he had held for the last five years.

According to him Argentina needs a new coach who is fitter. Moreover, the Tango Team faced tougher challenges after becoming world champion.

"Argentina needs a coach who has great energy and is healthy. I want to quit football and it's time to start thinking. Right now, frankly, I think a lot," said Scaloni.

"This is not to say goodbye or anything. However, I need time to think about it because the barrier is now very high," he said.

"Now, it's all very complicated to win. Now we're always difficult to win. So, I need to think about it. I'm going to talk to the Federation (Argentine Football) president and players," Scaloni said again.

Scaloni achieved success while dealing with Lionel Messi et al. Previously, he handled Argentina U-20.

However, Scaloni was only briefly in the junior national team before replacing Jorge Sampaoli in 2018.

He then led Argentina to win the Copa America in 2021. At its peak, this 45-year-old coach led Argentina to win the 2022 World Cup.
