Asian Para Games 2023: Indonesia Contingent Targets Top 10

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo revealed that the target of the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 Asian Para Games is to finish in the top ten.

The Indonesian contingent measuring 266 athletes, officials, medical, and the Paralympic National Committee (NPC) team has left for Hangzhou, China.

"From [Asian] the Indonesian Games hope and have the target of the top 10 with the gold medal of 17 or 19," said the Menpora in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Dito said that hopefully the target can be realized. Moreover, the preparation of the Indonesian contingent is very maximal to face this four-year event.

"So we hope to be achieved and in terms of preparation we see that the contingent of gamers is maximal. And we just pray that we don't miss down but miss above," he said.

Previously, the Indonesian contingent at the Asian Games itself had missed the target. This is because some of the leading sports do not get medals such as badminton.

Dito said that for this reason, the Indonesian contingent at the Asian Para Games must be able to meet the target. He wants the same failure not to be repeated in a disability event.

"And we have to repeat that we missed one gold medal and one ranking in the Asian Games, but we still have to appreciate the struggle of the Red and White athletes," he said.

The 2023 Asian Para Games will take place from October 22 to 28. This is the fourth edition since it was first held in 2010 in Guangzhou, China.
