Marc Marquez's Reason For Leaving Honda And Choosing Gresini: Starting From No Longer Enjoying To Wanting To Get Out Of The Comfort Zone

JAKARTA - Marc Marquez's future has been decided. The Spaniard chose to join Gresini Racing from MotoGP 2024.

Marquez ended his 11-year career with Repsol Honda. A decision according to The Baby Alien is the hardest thing in his life.

"This decision is very difficult, the most difficult decision in my career was to cut ties 11 years with Honda, a very successful, very difficult relationship. Yes, last week was very difficult emotionally because all of my staff, friends and family were in the garage," Marquez said on the official MotoGP website.

The Spaniard added that he had to take this step in order to get out of his comfort zone. He admitted that his comfort zone so far has been with Repsol Honda.

However, lately, Marquez is no longer enjoying it. For that, the rider made a move to change.

"I didn't enjoy it, so I made a difference to enjoy my race again, because if I don't enjoy it, there's no point in continuing my race and career, and all I want is more racing in my career," Marquez explained.

"The first target is to try to enjoy it. So, for that reason, I chose the Gresini team because this is a big family. They have the best motorbike on track and my brother is there," he continued.

Marquez admits, this will be a big challenge for him and also Gresini. However, he believes the team can bring him back competitive.

This reflects on the results that Gresini achieved with several previous riders. "As I said, this will be a big change in every aspect, and what I'm looking for is to enjoy it and smile inside the helmet. If I smile, everything will come," said Marquez.
