FIFA U-17 World Cup: Ecuador's First Match To Be The Key To The Fate Of The Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - The U-17 Indonesian national team entered Group A with Ecuador, Panama, and Morocco at the 2023 U-17 World Cup. In the first match, the Milky Way squad will meet Ecuador.

According to PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir, the match against Ecuador will be the key. The points obtained can determine the steps of the U-17 national team.

"Indeed, Ecuador I think this opening match is the key, we can get full points or draws, this is the key. For Panama, I think it should be possible, but the ball is round," he said.

The U-17 World Cup 2023 will be held on November 10-2 December 2023 at four stadiums including the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (SJH), Bandung Regency at Manahan Stadium Solo, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) Surabaya.

Of all the opponents, Morocco is believed by Erick to be the strongest team. The reason is, the team is filled with players from France.

"From our intelligence, many Morocco players came from France, in the end it cannot be underestimated," Erick said in Jakarta, as reported by Antara.

The Minister of SOEs then hopes that Garuda Asia can win the group so that it can facilitate steps in the next round.
