Da'vian Kimbrough, North America's Youngest Player Undergoes Professional Debut At Sacramento Republic

JAKARTA - Sacramento Republic striker Da'vian Kimbrough made himself the youngest North American football player to make a professional debut. He made this achievement at the age of 13 years, 7 months, and 13 days, when he appeared in the 87th minute in his team's 2-0 win against Las Vegas Lights on Sunday, October 1.

Kimbrough, who has joined the Republic academy since 2021, signed the club's first team contract in August. This makes him the youngest American player to approve a professional contract. Previously, he had entered the first-team squad of matches on one occasion.

The youngest player to previously appear in the USL Championship was Axel Kei, who played for Real Marchs - the second team of the MLS Real Salt Lake club - in 2021. At that time he was 13 years, 9 months, and 9 days old.

Meanwhile, the youngest American footballer to make his debut in the first team was Freddy Adu, who did so for DC United at the age of 14, 10 months, and 1 day in 2004.

Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich's left-back, also holds the USL Championship record as the youngest goalscorer, which he has achieved at the age of 15 years, 6 months, and 13 days.

Kimbrough, a 181 cm forward from Woodland, California, has dual citizenship, with the feasibility of being a Mexican player. He recently attended the Mexico U-16 training camp.

With two games remaining in the regular season, Sacramento currently occupies first place in the Western Region's USL Championship (58 points) standings, three points ahead of San Antonio FC.
