Waiting For The Idaman Duel At The 2023 US Open Semifinals, Carlos Alcaraz Vs Daniil Medvedev

JAKARTA - The ideal duel will be presented in the semifinals of the US Open 2023. The top seed, Carlos Alcaraz, met his arch rival, Daniil Medvedev, Friday, September 8, morning WIB.

Both players will be USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, New York.

Alcaraz confirmed the place in the semifinals after defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-4, on Thursday, September 7, WIB.

"I feel very comfortable playing on this pitch, playing in New York. I also feel strong. I think I'm ready for a great fight against Medvedev," Alcaraz said, quoted from AFP via Antara.

The 20-year-old Alcaraz has now set a 24--1 record in their last four Grand Slams starting at the US Open last year. The only defeat was the loss to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the French Open.

Meanwhile, Medvedev managed to secure first place in the semifinals after defeating his Russian compatriot Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

Medvedev admits the toughest challenge he has to play in every game is the weather and the temperature is very hot and humid in New York.

New York was reportedly hit by heat waves this week with humidity and high temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius.

"His condition is brutal. The only good thing is that the two players in this round'suffering' (because they are both hot). So it's difficult for both of us," Medvedev said after finishing the 2 hours 48 minute quarter-final match.

"At the end of the first set I couldn't see the ball anymore. I just played by relying on my sensation or feelings," he continued.
