Sergio Ramos Finally Returns To 'Home'

JAKARTA - Sergio Ramos finally found a new port after not extending his contract at Paris Saint-Germain. The Spaniard chose to return to his "home".

Sergio Ramos has officially joined the club that has made his name, Sevilla. He returned home after leaving the club based in Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan 18 years ago.

"Sevilla FC has reached an agreement for the signing of Sergio Ramos. This academy graduate returned to club 18 years after he signed a contract with Real Madrid in 2005, at the age of 19," the club's official announcement read.

Born in Camas, several kilometers from downtown Sevilla, on March 30, 1986, Ramos joined the club's academy nicknamed Los Nervionenses at the age of 7, and was promoted before making a spare team debut at the age of 16, in the 2002/2003 season.

The following season, Joaquin Caparros, then coach of Sevilla gave the former Real Madrid captain a debut in the first team on February 1, 2004 at La Liga, replacing Paco Gallardo in an away game that ended in a 0-1 defeat against Deportivo La Coruna.

Ramos then made seven appearances that season, and quickly became the mainstay in the first eleven. In the 2004/2005 season, Ramos appeared regularly with 41 appearances in all competitions and scored three goals.

The player who is now 37 years old then joined Real Madrid ahead of the closing of the 2005/2006 season transfer. His career at the Spanish capital club was a huge success where in his first season he had performed 46 times in all competitions with 6 goals.

Overall, strengthening El Real for 16 years, Ramos has collected 671 appearances in all competitions with 40 goals and 4 assists, and earned 22 trophies including five La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues.

Ramos' career at Los Blancos ended in the summer of 2021. He continued his adventure at French giant club PSG which at that time made a breakthrough by bringing him in with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Lionel Messi.

Ramos made 58 appearances in all competitions for the French capital club for two seasons with six goals and one assist, and won three trophies, two Ligue 1 trophies and the French Super Cup.

"Today was a very special day for me. Very emotional. I finally returned home (Sevilla club) and I am optimistic looking forward to every moment where I wear the Sevilla club symbol on my chest again," wrote Sergio Ramos on the official website, reported by Antara.
