Failed To Top The Premier League Standings, Arsenal Created Frustration Of 10 Fulham Players

JAKARTA - Arsenal failed to top the Premier League standings after only a 2-2 draw against Fulham, at the Emirates Stadium, London, Saturday, August. The 2-1 lead failed to be maintained, after the visitors were able to score in stoppage time.

Mikel Arteta's troops were frustrated, as his opponent was able to balance the game with only 10 players on the pitch.

The result of Arsenal vs Fulham put the Gunners in third place in the standings with seven points, behind north London rival Tottenham Hotspur who won the same points, but were ahead on goal difference.

Andreas Pereira put Fulham ahead in the first minute. Arsenal bounced back with two goals in two tense second-half minutes from Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah.

Fulham lost Calvin Bassey, who was sent off due to a second yellow card in the 83rd minute. Despite having to play with 10 players, they saved a point when Joao Palhinha scored from a corner.

"Unfortunately we didn't win but I think this is a good result. It's always difficult to play against Arsenal. We came to try to win but, the most important thing is the effort we showed until the end even with 10 players," Palhinha told the BBC.

Fulham scored in the 57th second when Pereira took advantage of Saka's feedback, and the midfielder saw goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale far from the line. He fired from a distance of nearly 30 meters to score and silence the hosts.

However, the home team was awarded a penalty when Kenny Tete knocked Fabio Vieira in the box, and Saka made up for his mistake.

Arsenal, who were excited to get up, two minutes later snatched the ball back in the Fulham defense area. Vieira gave a cross to fellow Nketiah's substitute to score.

Fulham ended up just. competing with 10 players when Bassey fouled Nketiah to prevent a counterattack. However, Marco Silva's side were still able to equalize in the 87th minute through Palhinha's goal. His half-volley after getting the ball from a nested corner in the right corner of Ramsdale's goal. Fulham also grabbed a point.
