Badminton World Championship 2023: Bungkam Unggulan, Dejan/Gloria To The Third Round

JAKARTA - Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja beat Robin Tableing/Selena Piek to secure tickets for the third round of the 2023 Badminton World Championships.

Dejan/Gloria managed to extend their move to the round of 16 after stopping their opponents, two straight games 21-14 and 21-13 at the Royal Arena, Copenhagen, Tuesday (22/8).

"It feels happy and relieved because we can extend our breath to advance to the next round. In terms of performance, we are also better. We can always play nothing to lose. The pattern and strategy can come out all in this match," said Dejan.

This result also sharpened Dejan/Gloria's winning record over the Dutch representative as well as the ninth seed at the 2023 World Championship to 2-0.

"We have a good record with this Dutch pair. Previously we have also won at the Malaysia Open 2023. And thanks to previous wins, we so know how to deal with opponents. Plus, our game today, all of them can come out," said Gloria.

Dejan/Gloria before successfully defeating this pair when they first clashed at the Malaysia Open 2023 in January. At that time, the Indonesian representatives won two straight games as well.

In the round of 16, Dejan/Gloria will face the winner of Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong (China) against the German pair Mark Lamfuss/Isabel Lohau (Germany).

Dejan/Gloria are the second representatives of Indonesia to secure their victory today. Previously, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari had also confirmed themselves to the second round.
