There Is A Possibility That Indonesian Players Play In La Liga, Arthur Irawan's Name Is Also Mentioned

Vice President of RCD Espanyol, Toni Alegre, revealed the possibility of Indonesian players appearing in La Liga Spain. He is even ready to open the entrance for Indonesian players who want to join his team.

"We have to continue to grow and maybe we can also present other Indonesian players in this team. Why not? We once had the first Chinese player in this team," said Alegre.

"We also had one player from Indonesia in our second team, and then we saw in the future," he recalled.

The Indonesian player who once defended Espanyol's second team was Arthur Irawan. The defender who is now strengthening Persik Kediri defended Espanyol B in 2011.

Arthur Irawan did feel the competition between Segunda B, who is the third caste of Spanish football.

He defended Espanyol for two seasons, but then moved to Malaga U-19. Arthur Irawan moved to Malaga to do a trial, before moving to the Belgian League team, Waasland-Beveren.

Meanwhile, former Spanish national team player Joan Capdevila said the names of Asian players had actually colored La Liga's competition frequently.

Call it Shunsuke Nakamura from Japan who played for Espanyol during the 2009-2010 period. Chinese national team star, Wu Lei, has also played there.

"The potential of Asian players is very good," Capdevila said ahead of the 2023/2024 La Liga in a statement quoted on Thursday, August 10.

"They have proven it in La Liga. In Espanyol, we had a Japanese player, Nakamura. We also had a player from China, Wu Lei, and both contributed in many ways."

"Why not be the first to have Indonesian players? We are open to all talents and continents and who knows in the future we have Indonesian players," said the 45-year-old figure.
