2023 Asian Games Football Draw: Indonesia One Group With North Korea

JAKARTA The results of the 2023 Asian Games soccer draw put the Indonesian national team in a group with North Korea.

Indonesia is included in Group F according to the results of the drawing which took place in Hangzhou, China, Thursday, July 27. In the same group there are Chinese Taipei and Kyrgyzstan.

Football branches at the 2023 Asian Games will be followed by 23 countries. All were distributed into four pots before the draw grouped them into six groups.

Of the six groups, five of them each contain four national teams, while the remaining one is only occupied by three teams. The group contains the three teams, namely Group D consisting of Japan, Palestine, and Qatar.

Meanwhile, the remaining group containing four teams is Group A consisting of China, Bangladesh, Myanmar and India; Group B is filled by Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Mongolia.

Then two other groups, namely Group C occupied by Uzbekistan, Syria, Hong Kong, and Afghanistan and Group E which belong to South Korea, Kuwait, Thailand, and Bahrain.

The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8, 2023. The football sport will start first from September 19 to October 7.

Indra Sjafri has been appointed to lead the Indonesian national team to appear in this event. Garuda troops will send U-20 players even though the regular player allowed to appear is U-24.

The decision to send U-20 players was due to the busy schedule of the Indonesian U-23 national team. Two important schedules before the August and September periods were the AFF Cup and 2024 Asian Cup Qualification.
