JAKARTA - The legendary goalkeeper Manchester United and Ajax Amsterdam, Edwin Van Der Sar, suffered a brain hemorrhage while on vacation on an island in Croatia. Reporting from Ajax Amsterdam's official website, Saturday, July 8, 53-year-old Van Der Sar is in need of intensive care at the hospital after fainting and must be taken by helicopter to get help. "On Friday (local time), Edwin Van Der Sar was bleeding around his brain. He is currently in hospital in an intensive care unit and is in a stable condition. Once there is more concrete information, updates will follow. Everyone in Ajax hopes Edwin will recover quickly," wrote Ajax Amsterdam's official website.Van der sar, who used to be a goalkeeper enjoying a vacation with his family, his daughter Lynn and her friends at the Carpe Diem Bar in Hvar on Thursday 6 July. Former Manchester United Rio Ferdinand sent a message on his social media page to provide support to Van Der Sar and his family.

But the former Dutch national team goalkeeper has declared his resignation last May, but Ajax still tied Van Der Sar to August for the club's transition period. During his career as goalkeeper, Van Der Sar has presented a Champions League trophy for Manchester United and Ajax Amsterdam.Van Der Sar decided to hang up the goalkeeper's gloves in 2011 after Manchester United lost to Barcelona in the Champions League final match.
