JAKARTA - The 2023 ASEAN Para Games is not over yet. There are still a number of matches that are still being held until the close of June 9.

However, the overall winner of the 2023 ASEAN Para Games medals in Cambodia has been confirmed. The Indonesian contingent scored a hat trick for the overall champion after the gold medal collection was confirmed not to be overtaken by competitors.

As of Wednesday, June 7 evening WIB, the Red and White Team had collected 128 gold, 112 silver and 72 bronze medals at the biggest disability sports event in Southeast Asia, the 12th edition. In terms of gold achievement, Thailand has not been overtaken by being the closest competitor by collecting 96 gold, 82 silver, 60 bronze. "Praise be to God for what we aspire to and hope for the entire contingent, tonight we can achieve proud achievements. We have been able to lock up the overall champion, even if there are two days left," said Chef de Mission (CdM) Indonesian contingent Andi Herman in a written statement, which was reported via Antara. Andi explained calculated that the number of 128 gold medals currently achieved could not be pursued by Thailand. "This is a new history of Indonesia being able to win three times a general or hattrick. The Red and White team added 28 gold medals on Wednesday, which came from para-swimming, sitting volleyball, para-athletics, heavy-lifting, and para-tours.

Para-swimming contributed gold medals through Fajar Nur Hardianto (100m male breaststroke SB4), Muhd Gerry Pahker (100m male breaststroke SB6), 200 meters individual SM9 medley by Jendi Pangabean, and a 4x100 meter freestyle relay that fielded Marinus Melianus Yowei, Maulana Rifky Yavianda, Manaser Meriba Numberi, and Sunarto. Then para-athletics performed fantastically today by donating 10 gold medals. Not to forget, the para-cart and heavy-lift branches also contributed gold medals each. Gold from the volleyball branch sat was obtained after defeating Cambodia. Competing at Elephant Hall, Morodok Techo, with a score of 3-2 (26-24, 25-22, 18-25, 18-25, 15-13).
