The Extraordinary Struggle Of Indonesian Athletes: Willing To Fall In Order To Present Medals For The Red And White

JAKARTA - The extraordinary struggle was shown by Indonesian athletic athletes number 400 meters at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games. They fought desperately until they fell to present medals.

One by one, the athletes of the 400-meter number fell due to fatigue so that the Red and White Flag flew in Cambodia.

Their struggle was not in vain. Medals ranging from bronze, silver, to gold were won while fighting at the Morodok Techo National Stadium Phnom Penh Cambodia, Monday, June 5.

The only gold medal in this number is presented by Karisma Evi Tiarani in the T44 classification with a record of 1 minute 11.22 seconds.

In the women's 400 meters T20, Tiwa received a silver medal with a time of 1 minute 4.39 seconds. In the same number, Elvin Elhudia Sesa got bronze with a time of 1 minute 4.79 seconds.

Elvin shouted as hard as he could while lying on the track for holding back pain in his leg. He cried every time even though the medical team had provided treatment.

Blind para-athletic athlete Susan Ung also won a silver medal in the women's 400 meters T11 with a time of 1 minute 6.89 seconds. Susan, who ran together with her companion, also almost fell because she ran a sprint in a continuous one-round track.

The women's para-athletic athlete who competed the last was Nanda Mei Sholihah. He won silver in the 400 meter T47 after finishing with a record of 1 minute 2.45 seconds, very thin distance from his opponent Sasirawan Inthachat from Thailand with a record of 1 minute 1.52 seconds.

Nanda Mei Sholihah fell on the track and had to be carried to the edge for medical treatment. He was almost out of breath and needed oxygen hose help while the medical team checked his oxygen saturation.

To this day, the Indonesian team from para-athletic sports has donated 20 gold, 21 silver, and 10 bronze medals. Meanwhile, in total, Indonesia collected 63 gold, 46 silver, and 32 bronze.
