Regulations Are Not Certain, PSIS Semarang Has Not Moved To Find Additional Foreign Players

JAKARTA - PSIS Semarang has started to move in building a team to face Liga 1 2023/2024. A number of players have been successfully maintained and several local players have also begun to be brought in.

However, PSIS management does not seem to have moved in recruiting foreign players. The team is still waiting for regulations regarding the quota of foreign players for League 1.

"Reportedly, the quota of foreign players will be decided to be 5+1 ASEAN. If that is the case, then PSIS still lacks foreign players," said the CEO of PSIS Semarang, Yoyo Sukawi.

Currently, PSIS already has three foreign players, namely Carlos Fortes, Taisei Marukawa, and Vitinho. Thus, PSIS is still short of three foreign players, with one of the players having to come from the ASEAN country.

"We are still hunting for defenders and midfielders to complete the quota," he said.

He explained that Coach Gilbert Agius and the talent team had narrowed their choice to a number of names that were still in the recruitment process. "Communication and negotiations continue while waiting for new regulations," he said, as reported by Antara.

He said PSIS would announce new recruits for local players who had completed the administrative process.

Ahead of next season, PSIS Semarang has released nine players and six young players who are loaned to other teams to add to their competing experience.

In addition, there are three players who were not registered in the first decision of Liga 1 Indonesia 2023/2024 due to injury.
