JAKARTA - The U-22 Indonesian national team won 5-0 over Myanmar in the second match of the 2023 SEA Games group stage. Garuda Nusantara coach, Indra Sjafri, said it was in accordance with the plan.

Ramadan Sananta managed to buy two goals from five goals from the Garuda troops. Meanwhile, three other Indonesian goals were scored by Fajar Fathur Rahman, Titan Agung, and Marselino Ferdinand, respectively.

"The results are in accordance with the plan. Likewise with the rotation of the players. Everything went well. The long pause of the match (four days red) was also very influential," said Indra Sjafri after the match at the Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh.

In the match against Myanmar, Indra did field a number of different players when compared to facing the Philippines, one of which was Fajar Fathur Rahman, who in this match also scored again.

Rotation, according to Indra, will continue. This is to find the composition of the eleven best core players which will then be installed when the Indonesian national team passes to the semifinals even to the final of this biennial championship.

"Rotation is to find a "dream team". That's why we will continue to do it. The peak periodization is in the semifinals and finals," added the coach from West Sumatra, as reported by Antara.

With a victory over Myanmar, Indonesia is now leading the Group A standings with six points from two matches. Meanwhile, the host Cambodia is in second place in the standings with four points from two matches.

Currently, the Garuda Muda national team still has two matches left in Group A, namely against Timor Leste, Sunday, May 7, and the last one facing the host Cambodia, Wednesday, May 10.

"From the two matches, there are still many mistakes that need to be corrected. That's why we continue to strive to find the best players," said the former Bali United coach.

Indonesia is targeting a gold medal in men's soccer at the Cambodian SEA Games. It's just that the journey to achieve it will not be easy considering that many countries in Southeast Asia such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia also want the same thing.
