Xavi Regrets After Barcelona Failed To Take Advantage Of Real Madrid's Defeat

JAKARTA - Barcelona squandered the opportunity to further move away from Real Madrid in the competition for the Spanish La Liga title. The Blaugrana actually lost when their rival slipped at Girona's headquarters.

Barcelona lost their way to Campo de Futbol de Vallecas, home to Rayo Vallecano, Thursday, April 27 in the morning WIB. Sergio Busquets and his friends fell 1-2.

Goals from Alvaro Garcia and Fran Garcia gave three points to the hosts. Meanwhile, Barcelona only narrowed the gap through Robert Lewandowski's goal in the 83rd minute.

This is the third defeat of the Blaugrana so far this season. However, Barcelona are now only taking five points from their last 12 matches.

This is what makes Xavi regret the lost opportunity.

"We didn't have a good game, we weren't comfortable. They were very intense and aggressive and they didn't let us play," Xavi said after the game.

"We don't understand the game, we misused long passes. There's no reason, Rayo deserved to win," he continued, as quoted by Live Score.

The man from Spain emphasized that his team had tried with courage until the end. But again he said that the opponent deserved to win.

"We have margins and there is one game left. We have to think about Saturday. The message for the players is that the league has not yet been won," said the former Al Sadd coach.

"Winning this league costs a lot and every away game is war. This defeat burdened us and bothered us. Today we failed and we left annoyed because it was a very good opportunity," he concluded.
