2023 Asian Badminton Championships: Indonesia Continues To Add Representatives In The Last 16, Dominated By The Double Sector

JAKARTA - Indonesia has succeeded in adding more representatives in the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Badminton Championships. There were six representatives who followed to the advanced round, mostly from the double sector.

Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan became the most new representative to ensure a ticket to the round of 16. Down in the men's doubles sector, they qualified after winning over the Palestinian representatives.

In the match at Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Indoor Hall, Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, April 26, Ahsan / Hendra won over Dev Ayyappan / Dhiren Ayyappan. The senior men's doubles only needed to go through two games to ensure the numbers 21-14 and 21-17.

The success of Ahsan/Hendra was also felt by Muhamad Rian/Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana. Fajar/Rian defeated Chinese representatives, He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong in two games with a score of 21-16 and 21-18.

Bagas/Fikri also achieved a similar result. When challenging the Singapore representative, Kwek Jun Liang Andy/Loh Kean Hean, the junior doubles also won in two games with a score of 21-19 and 21-15.

Furthermore, from the women's singles number, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi also became representatives of Indonesia in the round of 16.

Gregoria's journey was tougher to qualify while trying to tackle Pai Yu Po from Taiwan. He had to go through the rubber game before confirming his ticket to the next round with a 19-21, 21-11 and 21-7 wins.

Jalan Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi is inversely proportional to Gregoria. He went smoothly after overthrowing Aarshi Kashyap with a victory of two games 21-6 and 21-12.

Another Indonesian representative who added to the dominance of the double sector in the round of 16, came from mixed doubles. Amalia Cahya Pratiwi/Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma also followed the success of other colleagues, against Taiwan representatives they won three games with a score of 23-21, 14-21 and 21-15.

So far, nine representatives have confirmed their place in the round of 16 today, Wednesday, April 26. Previously, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Mentari Haningtyas, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose had already drove.
