Marc Marquez Has Not Received The 'Green Light' To Race In The 2023 Spanish MotoGP

JAKARTA - Bad news came from Repsol Honda racer, Marc Marquez. The condition of the injury that has not fully recovered has made Marquez officially absent from the 2023 Spanish MotoGP at the Jerez Circuit, Sunday, April 30.

This was announced by the Repsol Honda team on their official website, Wednesday, April 26. The team said that this decision was taken after the rider had carried out a medical examination at the hospital.

Marquez was sentenced to rest longer for injury recovery. "Tuesday, April 25, Marc Marquez underwent a medical examination at Ruber Internacional Hospital after being successfully operational four weeks ago due to a broken first metacarpal intra-articular bone in his right hand," wrote Repsol Honda. "Clinical and radiological developments are considered satisfactory, however, due to the fractural nature and time that has passed, the medical team led by Dr. Roger de Ona has decided to continue his recovery and preparation over the coming weeks," the statement continued.

The team also revealed when it was possible for Marque to return to racing. The six-time MotoGP world champion could be paving in France on May 12-14.

Marquez also confirmed what his team said. He confirmed that his condition had not yet recovered to be able to appear in the 4th series.

"Yesterday we did another CT scan and it has been confirmed that, despite the fact that the injury is developing well, the bone healing has not been completed and the race at Jerez is risky. Together with the medical team, we decided not to take any risks, wait two more weeks and return to Le Mans," said Marquez.

He was also very sorry to have missed the Spanish Grand Prix which was a home race for him. Moreover, for The Baby Alien, this race is always special.

"Because of the atmosphere, racing at home and most importantly, seeing and enjoying the fans. I will continue my rehabilitation and work to return as soon as possible. Thank you for your support," concluded Marquez.

Repsol Honda has appointed and announced that Iker Lecuona from the HRC Team at WorldSBK will appear to replace Marquez.
