Starting 2026, Porsche Will Use Low Steel Emissions On Their Cars Production

JAKARTA - Porsche has once again emphasized its commitment to the environment by collaborating with the startup energy company, H2 Green Steel from Sweden. This collaboration aims to supply low-CO2 steel to reduce the carbon footprint in the production of the sports car.

In this partnership, Porsche and its suppliers will source low-emission steel from H2 Green Steel, renowned for its lowest carbon footprint on the market. This step is in line with Porsche's plan to achieve a carbon-neutral balance throughout its car supply chain by 2030.

Barbara Frenkel, Executive Board Member for Procurement at Porsche AG, welcomed the partnership, saying that low-CO2 steel plays a key role in the company's sustainability strategy. By using steel from H2 Green Steel, Porsche hopes to reduce CO2 emissions caused by this important component.

“Low CO2 steel plays a key role in our sustainability strategy. "With steel from H2 Green Steel, we aim to reduce CO2 emissions," said Frenkel on the company website, November 3.

H2 Green Steel uses an innovative production process with the help of hydrogen and electricity from renewable energy sources, producing emissions that are 95 percent lower than conventional steel production with coal.

Meanwhile, as many as 35,000 tons of low-emission steel produced by H2 Green Steel will be used in the production of Porsche series cars every year. Although Porsche has reduced the proportion of steel in its vehicles, steel remains an important element in sports car construction, thanks to its superior mechanical properties.
