JAKARTA - Gaikindo (Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Relations) has released car sales records from several automotive manufacturers in Indonesia during the first half of 2023.

Data released on Sunday, July 16, shows that total retail sales reached 502,536 units during the first half of this year, a significant increase from 465,257 units in the same period last year.

Toyota became the manufacturer with the most retail sales, successfully releasing 156,830 vehicles to the market during the first half of 2023. In second place is Daihatsu with 102,515 units of vehicles sold.

In third place, Honda contributed 67,797 retail sales units, with Honda Brio as the most popular.

Mitsubishi is ranked fourth with a total of 43,260 units of vehicles sold, followed by Suzuki in fifth place with 41,233 units sold.

Hyundai, as a representative of the South Korean automotive manufacturer, ranks sixth with a total of 18,203 units sold. Although successful, Hyundai's sales figure looks much lower than its competitors from Japan.

The position of seven to nine is occupied by commercial vehicles. Fuso recorded sales of 17,343 units, followed by Isuzu with a total of 15,508 units, and Hino with a total of 12,719 units.

Complementing the top 10 ranking, Wuling Motors, a brand from China, managed to record sales of 11,727 units from January to June 2023.

This impressive sales data proves the recovery of the Indonesian automotive industry after the difficult times caused by the Covid-19 pandemic over the past two years.
